Located on the Caldera campus in Milan, it is the main Internet Exchange Point (IXP) of Internet networks in Italy and among the first in Europe in terms of traffic.

It is one of the few European IXs equipped with its own data centre where it offers interconnection services to Italian and foreign companies equipped with their own independent network (AS).

MIX is the first Italian IXP to pass the stringent controls required by the ISO27001:2013 certification, a standard that covers all the safety aspects of IT systems and processes. It also obtained the Open-IX OIX-1 certification, confirming the level of excellence in terms of security and reliability of the services of the main Italian IXP.

MIX is one of the founding members of Open Hub Med, a neutral data centre based in Palermo, the first neutral hub in Italy for the interconnection of the networks of the Mediterranean basin towards Northern Europe.

If traffic generated on peering ports is higher than any virtual rate limit, the balance procedure will be applied.
