LOCATIONS
MIX’s peering network has 11 access PoPs and peering devices in the data centres of leading international players.
Each Pop is totally redundant and ring-connected to the core Pop located in DC MIX inside the technological campus of via Caldera in Milan.
The campus has evolved over the years and today represent the area of greatest concentration of Internet operators in Italy. It is ppopulated by numerous datacentre of different colocation service providers operating independently.
All datacentres in the Caldera campus are connected to MIX and the LAN peering is on-net in Irideos and C21 Datacentres where MIX can provide a demarcation point to the ISP to connect to the LAN peering.
Mot peering related fibers from any Datacentres in the campus are managed exclusively by datacentre owners.
In line with its long-standing mission to develop the Internet in Italy, MIX has launched a series of partnerships with leading companies which specialise in data centre management. The aim is to create a plurality of neutral, highly-reliable Points of Presence (PoPs), which serve as alternatives to the Milan Caldera Campus. The presence of several focal points makes it possible to obtain a more robust and resilient system, and will help reduce the infrastructural gap with the major hubs of Northern Europe, such as Amsterdam, London, Paris and Frankfurt.
