Public Peering

High performance for a faster and more efficient network

The Public Peering service allows networks with an Autonomous System to connect to a shared LAN and establish traffic exchange agreements (peering) with other networks.

MIX offers the highest concentration of networks in Italy through a Layer 2 switching platform. Additionally, to simplify configurations, it provides constantly updated Route Servers.

MIX switches are accessible in the proprietary Data Center in Caldera and major commercial data centers across Italy, ensuring flexibility and reliability for any interconnection needs.

If your network is far from one of MIX locations, you can connect remotely through the Partnership Program.

What we offer
  • MIX full wire-speed non-blocking switching ports
  • Local patch from the customer’s device to the MIX switch
  • One public IPv4 and one public IPv6 for the peering port
  • 24/7 support from the MIX NOC
  • Out-of-Band (OOB) access for remote management of operator devices installed in MIX data rooms
  • Option to use a basic colocation service consisting of 4RU in shared racks (power excluded)
  • Interconnection platform with the highest standards in terms of certified reliability and security

Anything not explicitly mentioned is not included in the standard service. PFor additional requirements, contact us.

VLAN Tagging Option

This is an extension of the basic service that allows operators to activate VLANs configured at Layer 2 on the peering port using the IEEE 802.1Q standard.

The optional Qtag service enables IEEE 802.1Q protocol configuration on the active peering port (or LAG). VLANs can only be configured between ports that both have the Qtag service enabled. The service includes a one-time activation fee of €150.00 and a monthly fee of €50.00.
